NBA news: Warriors and Celtics fans fired stern warning after Lakers humbling
GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS and Boston Celtics have been warned to not underestimate Denver Nuggets by head coach Mike Malone.
The Nuggets embarrassed Los Angeles Lakers last night with a 117-85 win at the Pepsi Centre.
Malone’s side are up to third in the Western Conference after extending their winning run to four matches.
LeBron James was kept quiet with only 14 points as the Lakers dropped to seventh in the table.
And Malone has warned other top sides that they will also be on the receiving end of a humbling when they travel to Colorado later this campaign.
“You are either with us or you are against us,” Malone said.
“We understand when we play these great teams.
“LeBron is arguably one of the greatest players ever and when he comes to town the Lakers fans carry.
“But as long as their fans go home disappointed that’s all I care about.
“The Warriors fans can come in here, the Celtics fans can come in here, Lakers fans come in here - they take that L on the way out.”
Meanwhile, Lakers head coach Luke Walton felt his side were tired in the latter stages of the match.
“I think we gave in to some fatigue and the game in the second half,” he said.
“It is unfortunate but it is something we’ll work on.
“We have got to come together as a group to succeed.
“I don’t think we did a great job of that tonight.
“I thought we got tired but I’ll watch the tape.
“Denver is a very talented team. Especially at home they can put up a lot of points quickly.”
