NBA news: Kevin Durant SLAMS Mavericks fan after £19,000 fine
KEVIN DURANT has admitted that he knew he would be fined by the NBA after his surprising outburst to a fan.
Kevin Durant shouts at opposition fans during game
Durant was filmed shouting at a Dallas Mavericks fan during the Golden State Warriors’ 112-109 defeat.
After fans were heard calling out Durant, he turned and shouted at the court-side spectators.
The Warriors’ star scored 32 points in that game, 10 more than next-highest-scorer Klay Thompson.
Fans continued to call Durant ‘soft’, and reference his on-court spat with Draymond Green, to the point where he snapped.
“Watch the f****** game and shut the f*** up,” Durant shouted at the fans.
After the incident, he was fined £19,000 ($25,000) by the NBA.
He found out about the fine when he appeared on a Yahoo Sport podcast with NBA insider Chris Hayes.
And he admitted that he knew he would be punished.
He also pointed out that he wants other fans to recognise that they can’t act in the same way as the Mavericks supporters did.
“I knew I was gonna get fined,” Durant said.
“More fans should understand what that means.
“Grown men can’t come to a game and heckle grown men.
“That’s corny, that’s weak.
“You’re coming to a game to heckle another grown man.
“[Fans were shouting] ‘You’re soft, you’re weak. Draymond this, Draymond that, you’re a b****.
“You’re going to sleep as a grown man and doing that to another person.”
