Kevin Durant: Warriors ace openly admits he will LEAVE Warriors after Draymond Green clash
KEVIN DURANT appeared to confirm on court that he will be leaving the Golden State Warriors next summer after his bitter confrontation with Draymond Green on Monday night.
Durant and Green came to blows in incredible fashion during the Warriors’ overtime defeat to the LA Clippers on Monday.
Their dispute stemmed from the fact Green took the ball up the court in the dying seconds of regulation time, where he then fumbled and fell over before getting a shot off ahead of the shot-clock running out.
Durant could be seen frantically clapping Green as he picked up the ball, signalling for him to pass it to him to take the final shot.
And tempers flared when both players took to the bench with strong words exchanged.
Green took offence to Durant calling him out in the team huddle and launched a barrage of abuse at the two-time NBA Finals MVP.
Reports have suggested Green blasted back by saying “who the f*** you talking to?” and called Durant a “b****” on several occasions.
Green’s actions led to him being suspended for last night’s win over the Atlanta Hawks.
Warriors staff and players have attempted to downplay the argument as two competitors simply caught in the moment.
But there was one moment during Durant’s exchange with Green on Monday night which seemingly suggests not all is well in the Warriors camp.
As Durant returned to the court in overtime, he is shown saying what appears to be, “That’s why I’m out”.
It is not clear what Durant could have meant by that but it has been taken by many fans who have seen the clip to suggest he will leave the Warriors in free agency next year.
The 30-year-old is expected to decline his player-option next summer to become a free agent and seek a max contract.
Golden State have made it clear they want to re-sign Durant but the nine-time All-Star has remained coy when asked about what he will do in 2019.
A number of teams have been linked with a move for Durant with the New York Knicks emerging as the favourites.
The Los Angeles Lakers also have a max-salary slot available to them next year and will likely may a play to team him up with LeBron James and Co.
The Warriors will also have a decision to make over Klay Thompson while DeMarcus Cousins will not re-sign with the reigning NBA champions.
