NBA news: LeBron James will ask for THIS Lakers star to be traded on one condition
LEBRON JAMES may ask the Los Angeles Lakers to trade Brandon Ingram, Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd claims.
LeBron James will ask for Ingram trade says Colin Cowherd
The Lakers have had a hit and miss start to the season following James’ arrival in the summer.
Luke Walton’s side are currently 4-6 following their 121-107 defeat against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night.
James was joined by the likes of Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson and JaVale McGee in LA, with the veterans all signing one-year deals with the Lakers.
Ingram was seen as the second star on the Lakers team behind James, with the 21-year-old backed to have a breakout campaign.
15 more Ingram disappearing acts and I think LeBron goes to them and says, ‘He isn’t the guy!’
However, the 2016 No 2 pick has struggled at times, with Ingram averaging 15.5 points per game.
And Cowherd claims the Lakers will trade someone before February’s deadline, adding James could ask for Ingram to be moved on if he continues to put in inconsistent performances.
“Somebody’s getting traded at the deadline,” Cowherd said on The Herd.
“And my takeaway is: 15 more Brandon Ingram disappearing acts and I think LeBron goes to them and says, ‘He isn’t the guy!’
“One thing LeBron likes is a little dog. He didn’t want to play with Andrew Wiggins, he had no interest.
“LeBron can live with your flaws but if you don’t have a little dog in you, LeBron’s out.”
NBA insider Chris Broussard added: “When you watch LeBron, does he look a little disengaged at times?
“Mentally he’s saying it takes time, let me be patient.
“However, he is disgusted by bad basketball, just instinctively.
“He’s not trying to be but when you don’t know where you’re supposed to be, when the spacing is terrible, when there’s missed assignments, it just eats him up instinctively.
“That’s what you see out there.”
The Lakers are back in action on Wednesday night, with James and Ingram facing the Minnesota Timberwolves.
