LeBron James makes promise to Lakers fans ahead of home debut against the Rockets
LEBRON JAMES has promised Los Angeles Lakers fans that the team they witness tonight will not be the same next year.
James is gearing up to make his league debut at the Staples Centre as his side take on Houston Rockets.
The Lakers are yet to fully integrate the new stars and philosophy after a huge overhaul over the summer.
The small forward arrived at the Lakers’ home ground in plenty of time to soak up the excitement this evening.
And he then reiterated that it will take time for the team to come together to produce their best basketball.
“There’s a lot of excitement today,” James said.
“A lot of excitement for our fans I believe, from the city. We’re excited to showcase to our fans what we’ve been working on for the last month.
“I can promise to our fans we’re not the team tonight that we’re gonna be in January and February, but we will be extremely excited to be out there.
“It’s been a great journey for me throughout my whole life.
“I had big dreams before I thought it was even possible to be a part of this league.
“That’s why I give everything to this game.
“I know where I was, I know where I come from, and I know exactly how hard it was under the circumstances to get to this point.
“So I don’t take a moment for granted to be able to come here.”
Meanwhile, James’ team-mate Josh Hart believes the former Cleveland Cavaliers star is installing the best rituals in the squad.
“He’s talking to us and making sure we’re working on those championship habits,” Hart said.
“He knows more than anybody that those little habits and attention to detail can change the outcome of games.”
