LeBron James: Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard and others sent Lakers free agency message
LEBRON JAMES will be working on trying to convince some of the top free agents available next summer to come join him at the Los Angeles Lakers.
Dennis Scott: I’m concerned about LeBron James defensively
And former Cleveland Cavaliers team-mate Kevin Love has given an honest account of what to expect from playing alongside James.
The three-time NBA champion left the Cavaliers for the second time in his career this summer, choosing to join the Lakers in free agency.
It was a far more harmonious split this time around than when he first left in 2010.
He leaves behind a Cleveland team which will likely be battling at the lower end of the playoff places and Love as their biggest star.
The 30-year-old was initially the No 1 option with the Minnesota Timberwolves before being traded to Cleveland the same summer James left the Miami Heat to return home.
Their time together provided four NBA Finals trips and one championship in 2016, but there were also difficult situations for Love to deal with playing alongside James.
Next summer, Love may well receive calls from fellow NBA All-Stars heading into free agency to find out the truth on what it is like to play alongside one of the greatest NBA stars of all-time.
And he opened up in an interview with ESPN’s Brian Windhorst exactly what the likes of Durant, Leonard, Jimmy Butler, DeMarcus Cousins and potentially others could expect.
"You have to be resilient. I had a lot of hard nights. There were dark times," Love told ESPN.
"But I always believed keep fighting, I was stubborn about it.
“And LeBron makes sure you have a chance to win every year.
“He's gotten a lot of guys rings.
“You're going to win at the highest level.
“We won and we bonded and we're going to continue this brotherhood."
He added: ”[Playing with LeBron] you're not the top guy.
“I just tried to continue to be myself and not fake it.
“I said how I felt. Whether we disagreed or agreed, my voice was heard."
