Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry explains why he's REDUCED his training time
STEPHEN CURRY has revealed why he's taken the steps to reduce the amount of time he spends training on the court during the pre-season.
The Golden State Warriors superstar knows better than most NBA players what it takes make a run in the playoffs after helping them win three NBA Championships in the past four years.
But the 30-year-old says the team's success has forced his hand to tweak his training routine in the offseason.
Curry says it is a “smart” move reducing the amount of time he trains on the court but admits the workout isn't any easier.
“My workouts are intense, physically and mentally in terms of preparation,” Curry said.
Definitely working smarter in terms of, I’m not on the court for six hours like I used to be
“Definitely working smarter in terms of, I’m not on the court for six hours like I used to be.
“But I still think I’m getting enough out of what I’m doing to keep getting better and laying the foundation for how I’m gonna get through an 82-game schedule at a high level and be ready, at my best, for the playoffs.”
Curry believes he understands the toll it takes on his body going into the NBA playoffs and how he will recover after it.
Speaking about his offseason preparation, Curry told SiriusXM NBA Radio: “I think for us, well for me individually speaking, knowing how my body reacts playing into the beginning of June and then having to kind of recalibrate and rejuvenate in two and a half months to get ready to go again for another nine-month journey.”

Curry has spent his entire nine-year-career with the Warriors during which he has accumulated plenty of accolades, including two NBA MVP awards.
He is considered by many to be one of the league’s best shooters and his stats help back up such a claim.
Curry has made a minimum of 212 three-pointers in each of the last six seasons, which in turn made him the first player in NBA history to eclipse 200 made threes at least six times.
Although Curry missed the Warriors 122-94 win against the Scaramento Kings due to a “personal matter”, he is enthusiastic about the start of the regular season.
"It's probably one of the best summers I've had in terms of my prep work going into a year," said Curry.
"I'm excited about what that'll mean on the court."
The Warriors next game is against the Phoenix Suns and Curry will hope to replicate the 21 points he scored in their pre-season opener, when the two teams meet at the Oracle Arena.
