Adam Scott shows true colours in disagreement with PGA Tour champion after Presidents Cup
After failing to win the Presidents Cup at his 11th attempt, Adam Scott won't be deterred in his efforts to clinch the crown
Former Masters champion Adam Scott showed his champion spirit as he insisted he is as determined as ever to win the Presidents Cup despite adding another dominant defeat to his record. The Australian was part of an International line-up that lost 18.5 to 11.5 against their US counterparts at Royal Montreal Golf Club on Sunday.
But 2002 PGA Championship-winner Rich Beem - who has won three PGA Tour events in his career - believes things are only getting worse for the Internationals in this particular competition. The superstars of Australia, Asia, Europe and Africa have struggled to test their American adversaries over the years, having won the Presidents Cup just once in its 30-year history.
It's Beem's suggestion the Internationals are caught in a vicious cycle that's becoming more and more difficult to escape the longer it endures. But he assured Team USA's rivals will be "tired of losing" after going more than a quarter of a century without tasting victory.

"Until the Internationals do get that next win, it's going to be tougher and tougher for them to pull it off," Beem wrote for Sky Sports. "The longer you go without winning, the harder it is to win. We've heard that in the individual game and something's got to change here but, right now, nothing on the horizon suggests that it is."
Scott, 44, has appeared in each of the last 11 editions of the Presidents Cup as a member of the Internationals team. And while this year's result only narrowly missed out on becoming the widest defeat he's had to endure in the competition, he's adamant things are improving despite Beem's comments.
"Like I said before, I believe there's something happening with this team internally under this Shield (emblem)," said Scott after Sunday's conclusion. "I'd love to push along and give it one more shot if I can."
The former world No1 went on to say he's struggling to keep up with his Presidents Cup team-mates because the "standard of golf is so high." And while some may be running low on motivation to keep competing after so many losses in one tournament, Scott maintains his team-mates keep him motivated to continue trying.
After a one-sided start in favour of Team USA, the Internationals restored hope by inflicting their own 5-0 win in Friday's foursomes to level the scores. However, a 6-2 sweep over the course of Saturday's two sessions all but sealed victory for the Americans.
The end result proved to be the US' most dominant Presidents Cup win to date on foreign soil. And yet Scott is not only determined to come back for more, but he's as confident as ever that the Internationals are building a team capable of breaking the duck.
By the time the tournament returns in 2026, it will have been 28 years since Scott's compatriot, Peter Thomson, captained the Internationals to their only Presidents Cup triumph to date. And despite being on board for a winless streak that's lasted almost three decades, the veteran's faith won't be dented in his bid to prove their doubters wrong.
