Man Utd transfer news: Anthony Martial ignoring Jose Mourinho
ANTHONY MARTIAL is “not listening” to Jose Mourinho and may be sold because of it, reckons Wes Brown.
Mourinho on Martial departure: 'Nobody has the right to stop him'
Manchester United winger Martial has caused a storm this summer over his relations with manager Jose Mourinho.
The player’s agent revealed earlier in the transfer window that his client wants to leave the club.
He then exited United’s pre-season tour of the USA to be at the birth of his child, but is yet to return to the side.
Mourinho has criticised Martial for not reappearing and regularly left the France international out of his side last season.
And Brown think Martial has not behaved correctly this summer.
“I like Anthony Martial. I think he’s a great talent and he’s young,” Brown said.
“But he’s not been playing so maybe he and the manager don’t get on and maybe he’s not listening to what the manager is asking.
“Ultimately that’s what the players have to do. You have to listen to your manager.
“He didn’t play many times last year so looking from the outside it doesn’t look good. He might be off.
“If someone is having a kid then you like to think the manager would say ‘yeah, you can go for that’ and if it was me I’d want to go. But I’d have come straight back.”
Martial has a number of suitors, with Express Sport understanding that Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Tottenham would all like to sign the ex-Monaco whizz kid.
But United are seeking a fee of at least £36m for the ostracised player.
United’s first match of the season against Leicester is scheduled for August 10.
And the player confirmed on Wednesday that he will rejoin the squad presently.
“Thank you all for your posts. My little Swan is fine, for the mom it was harder but thanks to God she's better now,” he tweeted.
“Sorry but my family will always come first... Back tomorrow in Manchester.”
