Chelsea transfer news: Alvaro Morata uses representatives to broker Real Madrid return
CHELSEA hitman Alvaro Morata is determined to return to Real Madrid, reports claim.
Chelsea signed Morata from Real Madrid last summer, with the Spain international arriving as a replacement for Diego Costa.
However, the 25-year-old endured a difficult first season in the Premier League, scoring just 15 goals from 48 appearances.
And that has led to Spanish newspaper El Confidential claiming Morata has offered himself back to his old employers.
Morata was held in high regard by Real Madrid and only left for Chelsea because of Zinedine Zidane’s reluctance to play him over Karim Benzema
In his final season at the Bernabeu, he bagged an impressed 20 goals from 42 games despite spending much of his time on the bench.
Morata left Real for Juventus but returned in 2016 after catching Zidane’s eye.
Ultimately, though, a move to Chelsea beckoned with the Spaniard unable to get into the team.
Fast forward 12 months and Real are again on the lookout for a centre-forward amid Julen Lopetegui’s fears over Benzema.
And El Confidencial say Morata used his representatives to push for a stunning return.
However, Real refused the request and it seems that, despite Cristiano Ronaldo leaving for Juventus, they will not be investing in a new marksmen.
