Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp makes Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane claim
LIVERPOOL trio Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane could play for “pretty much any team in the world” according to Jurgen Klopp.
That’s with the Reds having opened talks to pen Mane down to a new long-term deal.
The Merseyside outfit have handed key forwards Salah and Firmino fresh terms to reward their importance to Klopp’s team.
And Senegal international Mane is set to follow suit with a lucrative extension as Liverpool look to keep together a front-line that scored 91 goals last season for the long term.
That adds to a summer of optimism for Liverpool, in spite of their defeat in the Champions League final in May, having signed Fabinho, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson to fuel hopes of a Premier League title challenge.
We are Liverpool as a team and the boys want to be part of it.
And Klopp believes that the willingness of Liverpool’s star attacks to commit their futures to the club, given that they could play for the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid
“That is what I meant when I spoke about the mood in the club, that's not only in the stands,” Klopp said.
“We are Liverpool as a team and the boys want to be part of it.
“That's really cool and it's a big achievement for the club because these boys - Bobby Firmino, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane - and a lot of the others as well, could play for pretty much any team in the world.
“That's how it is and a good sign for the club. It is an improved situation that these players don't use us and then go.
“It's cool but now we all together have to deliver. Sign your contracts but now, go again.”
Liverpool continue their preparations for the new campaign when they face Napoli in Dublin on Saturday (6pm).
They conclude their pre-season against Torino at Anfield next Tuesday (7.30pm).
