Chelsea transfer news: Christian Pulisic told to join Liverpool instead of Blues
CHELSEA target Christian Pulisic should join Liverpool if he leaves Borussia Dortmund this summer, claims ESPN FC pundit Paul Mariner.
Chelsea: Pulisic is a STEP DOWN from Hazard says pundit
USA international Pulisic has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months.
Both Chelsea and Liverpool are rumoured to be keen on the teenage winger.
Mariner believes Pulisic should remain at Borussia Dortmund for the time being, where he is a regular starter.
But he says if he does go, Anfield would be better for his career than Stamford Bridge.
“It’s very attractive to go to Chelsea,” former Arsenal striker Mariner said.
If he goes to Chelsea, what happens generally to players that go to Chelsea? They get sent out on-loan
“It’s very attractive to go to Liverpool. I just think he’s got to be careful of where he goes. This is a very important move.
“If he goes to Chelsea, what happens generally to players that go to Chelsea? They get sent out on-loan again.
“Can he break into the side? Can he take (Eden) Hazard’s spot? Of course he can’t. Can he take Willian’s spot? No. He’s not going to play him through the middle.
“The people looking after him have got to be very, very careful.
“This is an incredible move for Pulisic if he goes to the Premier League because the marketing side of the game, particularly in the USA, the club will make millions of dollars.
“Looking at it purely and simply from the player’s viewpoint, I’d stay at Dortmund for another year.
“But if I was going to go, I’d go to Liverpool. He knows (Jurgen) Klopp, Klopp knows him, he’d be fantastic to come in and out for (Sadio) Mane and (Mohamed) Salah.
“I think that would be a better move.”
Pulisic has made 97 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund, scoring 12 goals.
