Alisson to Liverpool: Roma work on goalkeeper replacement, PSG star most likely option
ROMA reportedly already have an idea as to who they wish to replace Liverpool bound goalkeeper Alisson with.
After deliberating over his shot-stopper options, Jurgen Klopp made a big push for Alisson.
Reports emerged on Wednesday that Liverpool reached an agreement for the £66.8million transfer of the Brazil which will make him the most expensive goalkeeper in history.
With a medical booked, it is claimed that a deal could be announced in the next 24 to 48 hours.
And now with Alisson on his way to Anfield, Roma are identifying replacements.
Sky Sports Italy claim the Serie A outfit have three potential options in in mind - Paris Saint-Germain’s Areola, FC Copenhagen goalkeeper Robin Olsen or Leicester shot-stopper Kasper Schmeichel.
Simon Mignolet is still there as a fall-back [option]. They can still look to him
However, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reckons Areola is the most likely replacement for Alisson.
Areola’s opportunities are likely to be more limited following Gianluigi Buffon’s arrival at the Parc des Princes.
Although Alisson is likely to be the Reds’ fourth summer acquistion, reports have suggested that Klopp wants a new No 10.
Meanwhile, John Hartson has endorsed Klopp’s move to Alisson, claiming sticking with Loris Karius would represent too much of a risk.
He said: “To put Karius straight back in would be a huge gamble.
Alisson to Liverpool: Klopp should spend $80 million on him
“He’s lost a lot of confidence and you don’t get your confidence back over one or two games, it takes a whole season.
“Is he capable of going a full season in the Liverpool goal?
“Simon Mignolet is still there as a fall-back [option]. They can still look to him.
“If Jurgen Klopp can get the funds, a goalkeeper should be the priority for Liverpool.
