Chelsea transfer news: Alisson is perfect signing ahead of Real Madrid deal - Ashton
CHELSEA fans should not be worried if Thibaut Courtois joins Real Madrid - because there are plenty of goalkeepers who are good enough to replace him, such as Alisson Becker.
That is the opinion of Sky Sports pundit and former West Ham striker Dean Ashton.
Courtois has been heavily linked with a return to Madrid, having spent three seasons on-loan at Atletico.
The Belgian’s family still live in the Spanish capital and he seems keen on a move to rivals Real Madrid.
Courtois’ Chelsea contract expires at the end of the upcoming season so the Blues may look to cash in on him.
I think Courtois is a great goalkeeper, but at the moment I see that there is enough quality goalkeepers out there to replace Courtois
But Ashton does not think that would be a bad thing, as long as they replaced him with the likes of Roma and Brazil No 1 Alisson.
“I think if you can bring Alisson in, I wouldn’t be worried,” Ashton told Sky Sports News.
“I think Courtois is a great goalkeeper, but at the moment I see that there is enough quality goalkeepers out there to replace Courtois.”
Alisson has been linked with both Chelsea and Liverpool in recent months.
Alisson to Liverpool could cost Klopp €80 million says expert
The 25-year-old emerged as Roma’s first-choice keeper at the beginning of last season and keeps Manchester City star Ederson out of the Brazil team.
Reports have claimed he could cost as much as £80million.
Alisson has made 37 Serie A appearances and has collected 31 caps for his country.
