Hugo Lloris makes huge World Cup final mistake: Commentators reveal shock at France star
HUGO LLORIS was guilty of a huge error in today’s World Cup final, gifting a goal to Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic.
France were leading 4-1 at the time and seemingly easing towards their second ever World Cup triumph.
But Croatia were handed a glimmer of hope when France captain Lloris inexplicably attempted to dribble round Mandzukic.
The striker deflected back off the Croatian and into Lloris’ net.
ITV commentator Clive Tyldesley said: “Oh can you believe that?

Former England manager Glenn Hoddle was equally shocked at the error from the Tottenham keeper.
“My word, have I just seen this?” Hoddle said.

“There’s no danger, he’s given himself depth as well Lloris.
“He’s gone back so the distance is difficult for Mandzukic to close him.
“He’s done all the right things, he’s tried to body swerve, he’s tried to do him with a nutmeg almost.
"Oh my word. It’s game on again.”
The mistake ultimately did not cost France, as they ran out 4-2 winners.
