My word. That’s a big call. I can’t see how this is deliberate handball, I really can’t
Glenn Hoddle on VAR decision to give France a penalty
“That, there would be 17, 18 penalties in every game. That is not deliberate handball.
“The fella, Perisic, has jumped, he’s jumped to win the ball, to attack the header.
“My word. That’s a big call. I can’t see how this is deliberate handball, I really can’t.”
Hoddle was impressed by Perisic’s goal though, which the Inter Milan winger fired in from the edge of the box.
“Well what a finish,” he said.

“But, what a great free kick. There was a little dummy, a little run, (Sime) Vrsaljko round the back, all off the training ground.
“Bodies in the box but that was magnificent. There’s the little lay back, he can’t get his shot in (with his right foot), he shifts it onto his left foot, two-footed player, bang. Fantastic finish, it really is.
“The free kick was wonderful as well, the little bit of late movement, the little dummy.
“They will be ecstatic that they have scored from it. But wonderful, wonderful technique from Perisic.”
France went on to win the game 4-2 after a dramatic second half.
