The France international has been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League, with the Gunners leading the race to sign the midfielder.
And according to the Sport Review, Arsenal boss Unai Emery is desperate to sign the 29-year-old this summer - and talks are underway.
However, they say the Gunners will likely have to sell to fund a move for the former Stoke and Blackburn midfielder.
The Sport Review add that Nzonzi will cost at least £20m this summer.
Nzonzi played under new Arsenal boss Emery during his time at Sevilla, with the pair winning the Europa League.

Emery has been busy in this transfer window, with Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno and Sokratis Papastathopoulos all heading to the Emirates.
Emery has been vocal on Arsenal’s transfer plans, with the 46-year-old revealing he hopes to develop the current squad.
“I believe we can grow with the players we have,” he said.
“The objective is to work hard together and with these talented players.
“It’s very important for the club, after two years outside the Champions League, to work to be the best team in the Premier League and also in the world.”
Arsenal begin their Premier League campaign against champions Manchester City on August 12.
