West Ham transfer news: Sixth summer signing imminent, photo leaked
WEST HAM look set to announce their sixth transfer of the summer with one photo emerging of Fabian Balbuena’s shirt being printed off in the club shop.
West Ham target Fabian Balbuena shows his talent at Corinthians
West Ham have been one of the busiest teams in the Premier League during this transfer window as they overhaul their squad.
Jack Wilshere has arrived on a free while they broke their transfer record to sign Toulouse centre-back Issa Diop.
They also pulled off a shock move for Andriy Yarmolenko with Manuel Pellegrini keen to build a side capable of challenging in the top half of the table.
And it looks as though Balbuena is set to join West Ham’s ranks soon.
That’s according to respected Hammers insider @ExWHUemployee, who posts regular and reliable West Ham updates on Twitter.
He tweeted: “The club have started to print Balbuena shirts! Announcement soon.”
It follows on after a photo emerged on Twitter from user @ArunWHU from inside the official club store with what appears to be three Balbuena shirts being printed.
Brazilian side Corinthians confirmed earlier this week that West Ham had met the release clause for Balbuena.
"Corinthians informs that it received a proposal from West Ham United, of England, for Fabian Balbuena,” the statement read on Corinthians’ website.
"The amount offered was the same as the amount required by the other party in the contract renewal, signed two months ago.
"The defender is already cleared for medical examinations for transfer to the London club. The board thanks the services provided in this time of home and wishes luck in the new journey."
The Paraguay international’s released clause is believed to be in the region of £4million.
Balbuena won the title in each of his three seasons with Corinthians, playing 136 times.
Pellegrini will now have a host of central defenders at his disposal with Diop, Winston Reid, Angelo Ogbonna, Reece Oxford and Declan Rice all battling for a place in West Ham’s starting line-up.
