Arsenal transfer news: Sampdoria president CONFIRMS Lucas Torreira exit
LUCAS TORREIRA's move to Arsenal has been confirmed by Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero.
The Uruguayan is in London today to undergo a medical ahead of his €30m (£26m) move from the Serie A outfit.
Torreira has just returned from the World Cup after Uruguay's quarter-final exit at the hands of France.
And the Sampdoria chief has now revealed the midfielder will not be returning to the club.
“It will be very complicated to replace him”, Ferrero told Italian newspaper Il Secolo XIX.
“We are looking at four different players: a Spaniard, a Belgian, a Croatian and one Italian.
We need a strong player who can help us to make a step forward

Torreira's move has been in the works for a number of weeks but was delayed due to the World Cup.
But the player finally broke his silence on the transfer over the weekend.
Arsenal fans are comparing Sampdoria's Torreira to Cazorla
“I would have been very happy to be able to return to Uruguay with my teammates, but this is a fantastic opportunity [to join Arsenal] and I do not want to waste it," he said.
Arsenal are also close to signing 19-year-old starlet Matteo Guendouzi.
The Lorient midfielder is also in London for a medical this afternoon.
