Real Madrid transfer news: Double transfer revelation over TWO possible deals - expert
REAL MADRID are holding talks with both Thibaut Courtois and Alisson Becker, according to Belgian football expert Kristof Terreur.
Real Madrid are desperate to sign a new keeper with the issue being one that led to Zinedine Zidane’s exit.
Zidane was happy to have Keylor Navas as his No.1 while Real chiefs wanted to bring in David de Gea to rival the Costa Rican for his place.
The goalkeeper agenda is now at the forefront of Real’s thoughts with Courtois and Becker on the wish-list.
Roma stopper Becker, who is starring at the World Cup for Brazil, is their No.1 choice with talks already started over a deal.
Real Madrid are still sniffing around Courtois
But Terreur understands Real are still ‘sniffing around’ Courtois, who has two young children who live in the Spanish capital.
“Real Madrid are still sniffing around Courtois. He's basically second choice, they are in talks with Roma for Alisson and they are holding talks with Chelsea,” Terreur told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“They know what he has to cost, that's for sure, but he's second choice.
“He's still waiting, he has one year left, and there's always been that family situation with his former girlfriend and two children living in Madrid.
“He wants to be closer to them but if there's no opportunity to go there he will have to stay one more year.”
Despite interest from Real, Terreur doesn’t believe it’s a forgone conclusion that Courtois is leaving.
He added: “If he doesn't sign a new deal I think Chelsea will push him around and try to sell him but I don't think there's many clubs who need a goalkeeper of that calibre and can afford to pay his wages. It's only the big clubs.
“PSG, we will have to see if they FFP consequences, and they have been talking to Buffon too.
“Atletico, Jan Oblak still hasn't moved, so there are not a lot of options left for him.
“He may even end up staying one year left at Chelsea.”
