Cristiano Ronaldo: Portugal star begged not to make rash decision after World Cup exit
REAL MADRID superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been begged by his compatriot Bernardo Silva not to quit international football.
Ronaldo and Portugal tumbled out of the World Cup at the last-16 stage after a 2-1 defeat to Uruguay on Saturday.
Ronaldo had little impact on the game and coach Fernando Santos had to tackle questions over the talisman’s future for his country.
By the time the next World Cup rolls around in Qatar, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will be almost 38.
But Silva thinks Ronaldo isn’t on the wane just yet and should stick around.
“Ronaldo has had another amazing season,” he said.
We don’t need to describe him. So hopefully he stays but it’s his decision
“He’s been the highest scorer in the Champions League and won a third Champions League in a row.
“It’s his decision. As a teammate, I hope so because he helps us so much. He’s a fantastic player.
“We don’t need to describe him. So hopefully he stays but it’s his decision.
