Liverpool transfer news: Manchester United lies were told before Firmino and Benteke deals
LIVERPOOL have signed Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke in recent years - and reports suggest Manchester United lies were told before their arrivals.
And Liverpool then consequently ended up paying £30million to sign the Brazilian.
The MEN say Villa also fabricated the Red Devils’ interest in Benteke.
United were on the lookout for a new striker after deciding to ditch Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie.
The report claims a Villa official alleged to a reporter that United were going to sign Benteke.
But Liverpool then triggered his £32.5million clause, having feared being gazumped.

United fans were left to wait until deadline day before Louis van Gaal signed his ideal forward.
And it was Anthony Martial who got given the nod.
The France international signed from Monaco for £36million and was immediately branded a flop by many media outlets.
But Martial ensured his negative press was short-lived by scoring on his United debut - against Liverpool.
Benteke also got on the scoresheet that game with a thunderbolt overhead kick.
But United won 3-1 with Martial joined by Daley Blind and Ander Herrera on the scoresheet.
