Liverpool transfer news: Nabil Fekir to Man Utd possible after Lyon star issued demand
LIVERPOOL’s transfer pursuit of Nabil Fekir could end with the Lyon star joining Manchester United.
Nabil Fekir gets RAPTUROUS reception from French crowd
Liverpool looked set to sign Fekir from Lyon at the start of the month after the player passed a medical.
However, the Reds ultimately scrapped a transfer in an act that has opened the door to a Manchester United move.
Lyon have hinted that United want to sign the Liverpool target with Jose Mourinho a huge admirer, with the Manchester Evening News also confirming Fekir may replace Marouane Fellaini.
And Get French Football have now claimed that Fekir’s demands to his agent may end with an Old Trafford transfer.
The 24-year-old was reportedly crushed when Liverpool opted against pursuing his signature.
The report suggests, though, that the Reds then tried to renegotiate with Lyon, trying to drive the price down.
That, however, angered the Ligue 1 giants who then publicly insisted Fekir would not be joining Liverpool.
And Get French Football say that Fekir still wants to leave the club.
That, in turn, could work out for United, whose interest appears to be growing.
Fekir has supposedly told his agent to secure him a Lyon exit and, if Liverpool continue to stall, Mourinho may swoop in to bring the player to United as his Fellaini replacement instead.
Lyon hinted at their interest yesterday when Jean-Michel Aulas admitted to talking with Mourinho.
“I was with Jose Mourinho the other day. We had long discussions,” he said.
"Personally, I am no longer in discussions with Liverpool. At the moment, we are waiting for France and Nabil to have a fantastic World Cup.
“It was expected at a certain point for him to go to Liverpool. I gave the green light.
“It did not happen because things were dragged out too long.”
