Liverpool transfer news: Nabil Fekir facing big Man Utd decision as Lyon claims emerge
LIVERPOOL may miss out on Nabil Fekir with Manchester United chasing his signature as well. And reports have now claimed the Lyon star may be forced to pick between the two Premier League clubs.
Liverpool and Manchester United have both been linked with Fekir, whose future at Lyon remains in doubt.
The 24-year-old appeared set to move to Anfield earlier this month but, after Liverpool pulled the plug on a deal, a transfer looked dead in the water.
Despite that, talk has been rife that Liverpool retain an interest in Fekir, though United’s interest is growing.
Lyon president Jean-Michael Aulas claimed last week the Red Devils had held talks about a deal, saying: “I was with Jose Mourinho the other day. We had long discussions.
“Personally, I am no longer in discussions with Liverpool.
“At the moment, we are waiting for France and Nabil to have a fantastic World Cup.”
And the Mirror say Fekir may now have to make a decision on his next move.
He reportedly may have to pick whether to join Liverpool or opt for Manchester United, who have the finances to broker a deal.
Liverpool wanted Fekir to be their Philippe Coutinho replacement following his move to Barcelona in January.
But United may hijack their move - and history suggests they are more than capable of doing so.
Back in January, they raided Arsenal for Alexis Sanchez.
Nabil Fekir to Liverpool is now 50/50 says expert
For months, the player had seemed likelier to join Manchester City - but Pep Guardiola’s men were ultimately gazumped.
It was a similar story regarding Romelu Lukaku last July.
The Belgium international was closing in on a sensational return to Chelsea, having been earmarked as the perfect replacement for Diego Costa.
Yet United blew the Blues out of the water with a £75million deal.
Fekir may yet stay at Lyon but, with Liverpool and United eyeing a transfer, whether that happens remains to be seen.
