Man Utd news: Nemanja Matic makes classy gesture to new signing Fred
NEMANJA MATIC welcomed new Manchester United signing Fred to the club after the pair met each other last night.
Fred’s first day at Manchester United
Matic was on the losing side last night as Serbia were beaten 2-0 by Fred’s Brazil to exit the World Cup.
Fred was an unused substitute but that didn’t prevent him from meeting his new team-mate after the match.
In a picture posted on his Instagram with the words “Thanks my bro Nemanja Matic”, Fred revealed Matic gave him his Serbia shirt from the match.
Fred joined Manchester United last week from Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal worth around £52million.
Fred and Nemanja Matic are likely to be midfield partners in United’s engine room
Fred and Matic are likely to be midfield partners in United’s engine room, freeing up the likes of Paul Pogba.
Speaking earlier this week, another of Fred’s new team-mates Marcus Rashford, said he was excited by the prospect of playing with the Brazilian.
He said: “I’ve seen some clips of him in the Champions League and he’s definitely exciting."
Another potential team-mate for Fred is Marouane Fellaini.
The Belgian announced he will reveal where he’s decided to play football next season and reports suggest he will remain at Old Trafford.
Fellaini’s contract expires at the end of the month but he is set to sign a new two-year deal, keeping him at the club until 2020.
