Liverpool transfer news: Lyon president issues fresh Nabil Fekir warning
NABIL FEKIR'S move to Liverpool may not go through after all, according to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.
Nabil Fekir to Liverpool is now 50/50 says expert
The Frenchman was expected to join the Reds before the World Cup until an 11th hour medical complication appeared to scupper the move.
Despite talks collapsing, Liverpool fans still expected the transfer to be completed in the coming weeks.
However, in a fresh interview with French outlet Le Parisien, Aulas has reiterated Lyon do not need to sell their star man.
"I spoke with Nabil Fekir the day after the night when we decided to stop negotiations with Liverpool," he said.
“He was very calm. I immediately said to him that if he wanted to stay, we could do an extension.
"I've said it before, we don't need to sell.
“We have the capacity to keep Fekir. The current plan is to let nobody leave to have the best team possible and to make signings as previously planned."
Fekir is said to still favour a move to Anfield this summer.
However, Real Madrid and Manchester United have both emerged as surprise targets for the attacker this summer.
But any Fekir deal will likely have to wait until next month.
He’s on international duty with France at the World Cup at present.
