UNAI EMERY has contacted Sevilla star Ever Banega personally over a potential move to Arsenal, according to reports in Spain.
Ever Banega in transfer talks with Arsenal's Unai Emery
The Gunners boss is attempting to bolster his new side over the summer by chasing players who have previously played under him in Spain and France.
Emery was said to be looking at PSG youngster Yacine Adli, and has been actively pursuing Sevilla midfielder Steven N'Zonzi.
But it appears a move for Banega is closer than any other.
Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo report Emery is desperate to sign the Argentinian this summer.
Banega has played under the Spaniard at Sevilla and Valencia in recent years.
And Estadio Deportivo claim Emery has made a personal phone call to the 29-year-old in a bid to tempt him to the Emirates.
Banega has played for Sevilla twice, either side of a short stint at Inter Milan.
The midfielder is said to be happy at the La Liga outfit.
But Emery's personal relationship may be a huge help to getting the deal over the line.
The new Gunners boss has already strengthened his side with the arrivals of Stephan Lichtsteiner and Bernd Leno.
Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos is also expected to join the north London side next month.
