Chelsea transfer news: Borussia Dortmund could swerve Alvaro Morata deal
BORUSSIA DORTMUND have set their sights on trying to sign Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata, according to reports.
Morata had a turbulent debut campaign at Chelsea last term and managed just 11 goals in 31 Premier League games.
After a flying start, the Spaniard’s troubles were well documented in the second half of the season as he scored just once in his final 14 league outings.
Morata, who is valued at around £60million, has piqued the interest of Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan, with the latter looking to throw in Gianluigi Donnarumma as bait to try and persaude the Blues to come to the negotiating table.
Express Sport understands Maurizio Sarri has drawn up a £140m hit list of targets should he take over.
The Italian tactician is set to be named the new Blues manager, although Antonio Conte’s future is yet to be clarified.
And according to German paper Bild, Dortmund want to nab Morata.
However, the report suggests his price-tag could make a potential move prohibitive.
It is said Dortmund have a Plan B in mind and could turn their attentions instead to Werder Bremen’s Max Kruse, who would likely be significantly cheaper.
Chelsea loaned out Michy Batshuayi to Dortmund last season and he enjoyed a fruitful period, scoring seven goals in 10 Bundesliga appearances.
But it is not known yet whether the German giants will turn his move into a permanent one.
