Lionel Messi: Sergio Aguero sends classy message to Argentina team-mate after Iceland draw
SERGIO AGUERO sent a classy message to Argentina team-mate Lionel Messi after their opening World Cup group game against Iceland.
Argentina dominated large periods of the game, but they were held to a 1-1 draw.
Aguero netted the first goal of the game, but Alfred Finnbogason clinched a vital point for Iceland.
Messi had 11 attempts, but he was unable to find the back of the net.
To compound a bad day, he missed from the penalty spot as his effort was saved by Hannes Thor Halldorsson.
But Aguero expressed sympathy for his team-mate in a message after the match.
Today we have to be with him, we know that at any moment he can define a match
“Leo is normal, he is human," Aguero said.
“Today we have to be with him, we know that at any moment he can define a match.
"The first match is always difficult. Argentina want to win against everyone.
"I hope that the Croatia game can be better."
Javier Mascherano was equally disappointed with the result, as he said: “It's not the best feeling.
“We wanted to win, we tried everything and we could not.
“It's never easy to play the first game, but you have to keep going.
“This is just beginning, it's not allowed to fall, but it has not been our day.”
