Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi: Brazilian Ronaldo chooses between World Cup stars
RONALDO has delivered his verdict on the age-old football question: Who is better, Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi?
Messi and Ronaldo between them have won 10 Ballon d’Or awards (five apiece).
The duo are widely regarded as the best players on the planet.
Both are competing at the World Cup this year in what may be their final chances to win football’s ultimate prize.
And former Brazil star Ronaldo, who won the World Cup in 2002, appeared to side with his namesake in an interview with Bild today.
"With his incredible attitude, with his incredible winning mentality, Cristiano Ronaldo is a unique player,” Ronaldo said.
Lionel Messi adds even more magic to football
“But I admit that Lionel Messi adds even more magic to football.
“And with his dribbling, with his complete form of playing football, he always generates surprise situations when attacking.”
Ronaldo, now 41, quit football in 2011 but played his last World Cup back in 2006.
As for Cristiano Ronaldo, he won a fourth Champions League medal for Real last month.
And the Brazilian reckons Ronaldo’s decision to leave Manchester United for Real in 2009 was a wise choice.
"The best thing that could happen (to him) was to move to Real Madrid,” he said.
“At Manchester United it was already incredible the number of goals scored but in Madrid he has become even more complete.”
