Gareth Bale: Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand makes transfer claim over Real Madrid star
GARETH BALE’s price tag has shot up after his stunning substitute performance for Real Madrid in the Champions League final against Liverpool.
That is the verdict of Manchester United legend and BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand.
Bale came off the bench and scored twice to lead Real Madrid to a third successive Champions League trophy with a 3-1 win.
The Welshman scored arguably one of the greatest goals in the competition’s history to make it 2-1, with a stunning overhead kick.
He then had a strike from 25 yards inexplicably let in by Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius to seal the win for Real.
This guy, his price tag would have gone up again
After the game, Gareth Bale suggested he could leave Real this summer after a lack of football this season.
And Ferdinand says he will cost prospective clubs much more after his final showing.
“This guy, his price tag would have gone up again,” the pundit said of Bale.
“He’s a fantastic player, he’s got all the attributes you want in a player today to cause devastation in an attacking area.
“And he delivers on the big stage and he’s done so in the last few years.
“That goal, the second goal, that made this Real Madrid’s game, how dare he even attempt to do that?
“Ridiculous strike. How dare you?”
