Gareth Bale goal: Real Madrid star gives first interview after wonder strike vs Liverpool
GARETH BALE says he was determined to make an impact in Real Madrid’s Champions League final win over Liverpool.
And an impact is just what he provided.
Bale slammed home a majestic overhead kick to make it 2-1 to Real.
And he then scored another thanks to a Loris Karius mistake.
Speaking after the match he said: “I felt like I deserved (to start) but the manager makes decisions.
“I wanted to come on and make an impact and that’s what I did.
“To score in the final on the biggest stage. When I come on I want to make an impact.
I wanted to make an impact and I did that
“It’s a team game, I was disappointed not to start but… only 11 players can start the game.
“I wanted to make an impact and I did that.”
Bale has been linked with a move away from Real this summer and Zinedine Zidane’s decision not to include him in the starting XI could prove the final straw.
The Wales international is wanted at Manchester United, while his former club Tottenham are also keen.
Bale admitted he will speak to his agent this summer to discuss his future.
Real would likely want to recoup most - if not all - of the £85m they spent on Bale back in 2013.
