Real Madrid transfer news: Gareth Bale MOCKED over fee amid Man Utd interest
GARETH BALE has been mocked for his transfer fee by one of Real Madrid’s former managers.
Real Madrid are expected to sell Gareth Bale in the summer
Bale, 28, is wanted at Manchester United this summer but Real Madrid are expected to hold out for an £87m (€100m) fee.
They paid roughly that figure five years ago to prise the Wales international away from Tottenham.
Bale has won three Champions League titles while at Real but has endured two seasons of injury misery.
And former Real manager Jorge Valdano says the forward does not justify his hype.
“Nothing Bale does is worth €100m,” Valdano said in a stinging attack.
“And that’s the price tag he carries around on his shirt.”

Valdano also spoke about another United transfer target, Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, who has an £87m release clause this summer.
And the Argentine was much more positive about Atletico’s deadly goalscorer.
“Griezmann is the best striker, a good midfielder and he contributes a lot in defence,” he added.
“With the market the way it is he is cheap at the price.”
Manchester United are favourites to sign Bale if, as expected, Real Madrid put him up for sale this summer.

Tottenham have also been linked with a move for their former talisman - but finding the funds to secure a deal may prove difficult.
Gareth Bale has scored just 14 goals for Real this season, with just one coming in the Champions League.
He was an unused substitute in Real’s 3-0 quarter-final first-leg win over Juventus last week and is not expected to start in Wednesday’s return fixture.
As for Griezmann, Barcelona are tipped to land the France star ahead of suitors United and Real.
