Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho BLOCKS huge development with devastating transfer plans
MANCHESTER UNITED will reportedly have to hold back their plans to increase the capacity of Old Trafford with Jose Mourinho set to be handed a huge transfer war chest this summer.
Mourinho hails 'special attitude' after Man Utd beat Chelsea
The Red Devils have been unable to compete with Manchester City in the league this season and Pep Guardiola could potentially wrap up the Premier League title this month.
That is despite Mourinho spending big on bringing in Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof last summer.
City did outspend their rivals by close to £100million, including the signing of Aymeric Laporte in January.
But nobody predicted City to be this far ahead of the chasing pack this season.
And United are desperate to make sure they close the gap next campaign by making a huge splash in the transfer market.
Although, that will set back plans to renovate Old Trafford's seating capacity.
That's according to the Daily Mail, who claim United were planning to being work on making Old Trafford an 88,000-capacity stadium.
But their sole priority now is to give Mourinho a budget capable of competing with their arch-rivals.

Manchester United were hoping to begin plans on renovating Old Trafford
Mourinho did manage to pull one over Guardiola in the last transfer window by stealing Alexis Sanchez from under City's noses.
The Chile international looked set to move to the Etihad with an agreement seemingly in place from the summer.
However, United made the most of City stalling by coming in with a huge contract offer that the Blues were unwilling to match.
