Sky Sports pundit Danny Higginbotham explained why Chelsea want to sign a target man this month
That's according to Sky Sports pundit Danny Higginbotham, with the Blues facing a hectic end to the transfer window if they're to get a deal over the line.
Chelsea have been linked with a whole host of target men this month, ranging from Andy Carroll to Ashley Barnes.
They appear to have settled on Edin Dzeko now though with talks over a double-deal involving his Roma team-mate Emerson Palmieri ongoing.
The characteristic linking the attackers Chelsea have been linked with this month has been aerial ability.
And Higginbotham reckons Antonio Conte wants a player who can take the opportunities presented by his widemen.
"All of a sudden, Chelsea are finding themselves with so much space in wide areas but no real focal point unless Morata is playing," he explained on Sky Sports.
"Conte has probably looked at it and thought: 'OK teams are allowing us to have the ball in wide areas, so therefore we've got to make the most of our crosses'."

Express Sport understands Dzeko is not the only striker on Chelsea's radar at this stage of the transfer window.
A shock swoop on rivals Arsenal for Olivier Giroud may be in the offing if snaring Dzeko proves impossible.
However, that plan could be scuppered too with Giroud potentially involved in a deal taking Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the Emirates.
