European teams ranked by most valuable player – No Ronaldo, Pogba, Mbappe or Coutinho
CRISTIANO RONALDO may be the most famous face in football, but the Portuguese star is no longer the most valuable player at Real Madrid according to a new study.
Which European teams are ranked highest based on their most expensive player
Ronaldo has been a dominant force in La Liga for almost a decade, but the 32-year-old’s transfer value is sliding down as the years slip by.
The Real Madrid star is no longer the most expensive player at the Bernabeu based on new data from CIES Football Observatory, and Los Blancos are only 15th when European teams are ranked by their highest-value squad member.
There is also a nasty surprise for Premier League fans with Chelsea ranked ninth and Arsenal down in 13th, although the £68.3million Wilfried Ndidi boosts Leicester into the top 20.
There can only be one most valuable player at each club, meaning global superstars such as Ronaldo, Paul Pogba, Kylian Mbappe and Philippe Coutinho all miss out.
The estimated price tags in the new study are influenced by past transfer fees, contract length and on-pitch performances – but who is the most expensive star at each club?
Take a look through the gallery above to see every Premier League club’s most valuable player, according to the CIES Football Observatory.
