Leeds transfer news: Thomas Christiansen delivers latest update on January plans
LEEDS UNITED head coach Thomas Christiansen says he will hold talks with the club’s top brass about whether to pursue more signings in the January transfer window.
Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen has admitted talks are needed with Elland Road chiefs
Leeds are on track to seal a Championship play-off spot but the lack of depth in Christiansen’s squad was badly exposed as his much-changed side crashed out of the FA Cup in embarrassing fashion against League Two side Newport County.
Elland Road bosses brought 16 new players to the club during the last transfer window so it was thought they would not be busy this month.
But following the Newport loss, Christiansen indicated that he would discuss the situation with transfer kingpin Victor Orta.
When asked whether Leeds need to sign new players this month, Christiansen said: ”This is something we need to talk about.”
Pressed on whether it’s an urgent discussion, he replied: ”We need to speak and see what happens.”
However, the 21-year-old does not qualify for a work permit so will join Leeds’ partner club Cultural Leonesa once his transfer is finalised this week.
