Schalke's Leon Goretzka works out using exercise ball
The Reds kicked off the January transfer window with a world record fee for a defender when they agreed to pay £75million to Southampton for Van Dijk earlier this week.
He will arrive at Anfield in the New Year and could be available for their FA Cup third round tie against Everton in a weeks’ time.
A defender was top of the priority list for Klopp heading into the transfer market with Dejan Lovren coming under heavy scrutiny over the first half of the campaign.
And despite the huge outlay by Liverpool, their business may not end at signing Van Dijk.
That’s according to German newspaper Bild, who claim the Reds are willing to offer Goretzka a better deal currently on the table from his current club Schalke.
The 22-year-old’s deal runs out in the summer and he is yet to commit on his future.
The Bundesliga outfit have already offered the midfielder a club-record contract worth a reported £10.6m a year to re-sign.
But Goretzka hinted earlier this month he could be tempted by a move abroad.

“I have to find out for myself what the next step should be,” he said following his side’s 2-2 draw with Koln at the weekend.
“I have to consider a million things. I am a person who is very meticulous in such decisions. I play through all the scenarios. So I need time.
“There doesn’t exist a deadline, but I think we are in the final phase.
“The final decision will be made in January.”
