BACARY SAGNA has refused to deny Chelsea were interested in signing him in August.

The France international has spent the past decade plying his trade in the Premier League since joining Arsenal from Auxerre.
But he’s currently without a club having been released by Manchester City when his contract expired at the end of June.
Sagna was heavily linked with a summer move to West Ham as former Hammers boss Slaven Bilic looked to strengthen his defence.
Although it was Chelsea who emerged as the main contenders for his signature as the transfer window drew to a close.

The Daily Star and L’Equipe both suggested Antonio Conte was keen on adding Sagna to his Premier League-winning squad.
Sagna refused to be drawn on the speculation when asked if Chelsea had wanted to sign him in August though.
"I’m not thinking about it [not having a club]," Sagna explained to Express Sport.
"I’m trying to stay fit. I think I’m quite fit.

"I always give the maximum to be as competitive as possible.
"Unfortunately I didn’t find an option I would like, that’s why I’m still here [in this position].
"I’m looking forward, for December [ahead of January transfer window]."
Chelsea ultimately added Davide Zappacosta to their ranks on deadline day as competition for right wing-back Victor Moses.
