Tshibola, who joined Villa for £5million from Reading in July 2016, was expected to spend the season with the League One outfit.
But the 22-year-old failed to impress in 16 appearances for the Dons.
A tweet from the the club read: “Robbie Neilson confirmed in his press conference this morning that Aaron Tshibola has returned to @AVFCOfficial.
“The club would like to wish Aaron all the best for the future.”
News of Tshibola’s return to Villa Park prompted a savage response from Dons fans on Twitter.

One supporter said: “One of the worst players I have seen, genuinely was terrible. Was so excited to get him now I'm so glad he's gone.
Another added: “Thanks for having him back lads.”
While a third said: “So glad he's gone. To think he cost the same amount of money as Dele Alli is f****** laughable.”
Tshibola featured 10 times for Villa in his maiden campaign for the club, but fell out of favour when Steve Bruce replaced Roberto Di Matteo as manager.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Championship rivals Nottingham Forest but managed just four appearances.
Villa's next fixture sees them travel to QPR on Saturday, November 18.
