ASTON VILLA owner Tony Xia has confirmed John Terry is unlikely to return from injury until the new year.
Aston Villa skipper John Terry suffered a broken metatarsal
Villa skipper Terry, 36, limped off in the 20th minute of Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday after breaking a metatarsal.
When asked how long he would be sidelined for, Xia replied: “Eight to 10 weeks absence.”
Villa chief executive Keith Wyness has admitted Terry’s absence is a “huge blow” for the team.
Writing on Twitter, Wyness said: “Lost some momentum and JT injury a huge blow but we will go into the next Xmas stretch positive.”
Terry joined Villa on a one-year deal in the summer following his release from Chelsea.

He had played every minute in the Championship for Villa until being forced off against Wednesday.
And Terry has admitted he is “devastated” by the injury.
Writing on Instagram, he said: “Devastated is an understatement to how I’m feeling tonight, after my CT scan I have just had news that I have broken my 5th metatarsal.
“I will be doing everything I can to get back fit as soon as possible.”
Despite losing to the Owls, Villa remain fifth in the Championship table.
They travel to QPR after the international break.
