Next Sunderland manager: 1000/1 shot believes he could be Black Cats’ new boss
A 1000/1 shot for the managerial vacancy at Sunderland believes he has a chance of becoming the Black Cats’ new boss.
Sunderland are on the hunt for a new manager
Football Manager obsessive Seb Keenan, 26, has raced through 170 seasons of the popular simulation game over the last seven years.
In that time Keenan guided Oxford United to six Champions League titles, while achievements at Barcelona and Real Madrid resulted in the Spanish giants naming stadiums after him.
Keenan told Oddschecker: ”After 170 seasons, I'm not surprised my name's been mentioned for some of the top jobs in the game.
“In all seriousness, it's amazing just to see my name on the same list as childhood heroes such as Giggs, Bould and Adams.
“With a bit of a push, I believe we can make this a reality.
“I take it someone's actually placed a bet on me for the price to be shown? Whoever you are, I wish you all the luck in the world!”
Sunderland sacked Simon Grayson on Tuesday
Sunderland are on the hunt for a new manager after axing Simon Grayson on Tuesday, 17 minutes after the 3-3 draw with Bolton Wanderers.
Southend boss Phil Brown is the second-favourite, and he has described it as his “dream job”.
“Sunderland are my football club and being the manager of Sunderland would be my dream job because of that,” he said.
“I have supported Sunderland for more than 50 years and would go and watch them when I was a kid with a black, red and white scarf tied round my wrist like everyone seemed to do back then. I have fond memories of that time and it’s a very big club.
“But for whatever reason they’re going through a torrid time at the moment and it’s not very nice to see.”
