Ballon d'Or nominees: Sanchez, Casemiro, Eriksen... 10 huge omissions from shortlist
ALEXIS SANCHEZ is one of several big names who have been omitted from the 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist.
Arsenal frontman Sanchez scored 30 goals in all competitions last season, but his efforts were not enough to make France Football’s elite shortlist.
The annual award sees players from around Europe recognised for their footballing achievements over the past 12 months, but there are several glaring omissions ahead of this year’s vote.
Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen has also missed out despite bagging 23 assists in a superb campaign.
And despite his glittering season at Borussia Dortmund which earned him a big-money move to Barcelona, Frenchman Ousmane Dembele also didn’t make the cut.
