John Terry says Diego Costa is one of the nicest guys in football
Chelsea yesterday announced the club has agreed a fee to sell Costa back to Atletico Madrid, believed to be £58million.
The fiery Span striker was renowned for his on-field antics, winding up opponents and often arguing with officials during his three-year spell at Stamford Bridge.
But Terry, who left Chelsea at the end of last season for Aston Villa, believes Costa is “one of the nicest guys in football”.
"Good Luck @diego.costa in your next journey my friend," Terry posted on Instagram.
An unbelievable player and one of the nicest guys in football
"An unbelievable player and one of the nicest and funniest guys I have met in football.
“Playing against him in training and games was an absolute nightmare, one of the best and underrated players I have played with and against.
"He gave everything for our club every time he wore a Chelsea shirt and was a born winner.
“Going to miss you mate. Good luck to you and your family."
Terry and Costa won two Premier League titles and the League Cup during their time together at Chelsea.
But Costa, who bagged 58 goals in his 120 appearances for the Blues, was told by manager Antonio Conte that he was surplus to requirements in the summer.
