Barcelona News: Palmeiras refuse to let Yerry Mina leave in January
BARCELONA will be denied the opportunity to bring new signing Yerry Mina to the club in January.
Barcelona agreed to sign Yerry Mina in the summer
Barcelona signed Mina in an £8.2million deal from Palmeiras this summer.
As part of the agreement he was allowed to remain in Brazil until the country’s national league season is over.
Barca were expected to have the defender in place in the New Year.
But Palmeiras don’t believe that to be the case.
They want Mina to stay with the club until after the World Cup in Russia next summer.
According to Globoesporte, Palmeiras maintain that the agreement with Barca will only be fully triggered at the end of the season, which officially is 1 July 2018.
Barca laboured to sign defenders in the transfer window but did bring Nelson Semedo into the side.
They tried to sell Aleix Vidal to Valencia in a cut-price deal on deadline day but Valencia were not interested.
Barcelona arrival Dembele is second most expensive player ever
Palmeiras sit fourth in Brazil’s top flight, which would earn them qualification to the 2018 Copa Libertadores.
And the Rio de Janeiro side want Mina to compete in the opening stages of that tournament.
