Arsenal tweet about Alexis Sanchez future backfires as fans react in horror
ARSENAL fans hit out at the club this morning following a post they made about Alexis Sanchez on Twitter.
Arsene Wenger insists Arsenal ace Sanchez is going nowhere
Arsene Wenger spoke about the Gunners star in a press conference this morning, to which Arsenal duly updated their supporters.
They tweeted “The boss discussed @Alexis_Sanchez at this morning's #SCFCvAFC press conference” with a link to the manager's comments.
But it went down badly with the club’s followers, who reacted with fury in outbursts against boss Wenger and the board.
One fumed: “Why does he keep discussing him, get him to sign the damn contract ffs.”
Another said: “#SANCHEZOUT# We don't want a player that is not fully committed. #WENGEROUT# We don't want a 13 years failure manager in our football club.”
Arsenal transfer news: Alexis Sanchez has refused to sign a new deal
A fellow fan said: “I think the board might have other ideas, perhaps losing £100m in transfer fees, and the rest of the dead wood players on high wages.”
While another simply retorted: “Tell him to sign the contract then.”
Sanchez is out of contract at the end of the season, when he’s available to leave for nothing.
On whether he’d pen a new deal, Wenger said: “Look, at the moment no, because we have not progressed on that front.
“At the moment he is a player who goes into the final year of his contract and prepares for the season. We have not made any progress on the other front.
“That is a consequence of what I say, yes, unfortunately. But we have to make a choice between efficiency on the field and financial interest and most of the time if you can find a good compromise, it’s better.
“But in this case, I think I prioritise the fact that he will be useful on the sporting side.”
