Tottenham eye Valencia star Joao Cancelo: Juventus want him as Dani Alves replacement
TOTTENHAM are considering making a move for Valencia right-back Joao Cancelo, reports claim.
Joao Cancelo is on Tottenham's radar
Tottenham, who beat Juventus 2-0 in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday at Wembley, are waiting on the scan results of Kieran Trippier, who injured his ankle.
Mauricio Pochettino has yet to make a summer signing, as his side seek to go one better than last term when they finished runners-up to Chelsea.
Although it is unknown the state of Trippier’s injury, Spurs don’t want to take a risk and leave themselves without cover if his problem is greater than first feared.
And according to the Daily Mail, the north London outfit are keen to make a swoop for Cancelo.
For us we are so calm and so quiet because we have belief in our youth from our academy
Juventus are thought to be keen on the 23-year-old, as they seek to find a replacement for Dani Alves, who joined Paris Saint-Germain.
The Mail also say Spurs sent out scouts to watch Portuguese star Cancelo in action against Poland in June.
Pochettino recently admitted he’s not worried that his side haven’t spent compared to their top four rivals.
Juventus want a replacement for Dani Alves
“I think because the big sides are investing a lot of money in trying to improve their squads," Pochettino said.
"But for us we are so calm and so quiet because we have belief in our youth from our academy.
“We may lack a few players, but we are so calm because I think we have a very good team and the most important thing for us always is the team."
