Chelsea make push for Real Madrid's Danilo as Juventus cool interest - Gianluca Di Marzio
CHELSEA are ready to make a concerted effort to sign Real Madrid defender Danilo, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Danilo could leave Real Madrid this summer
Chelsea are keen to make significant changes to their squad, with Antonio Conte desperate to ensure he doesn’t rest on his laurels after his side’s title success last term.
A right-back has been identified, and Danilo has been viewed as the type of player Conte wants to provide competition for Cesar Azpilicueta and Victor Moses.
Reports emerged earlier this week suggesting the Blues had tabled a £22million offer to Real Madrid to persuade them to sell Danilo.
Juventus have also been linked, with Dani Alves already confirming his exit and a move to Manchester City likely.
Antonio Conte is keen to strengthen the right side of his defence
And Di Marzio claims the Blues have surged clear in the race to sign Danilo.
The report suggests Juve have cooled their interest, as they have set their sights on landing Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa who could fill the non-EU spot in the squad.
It is also suggested Real could demand as much as £26.5million for Danilo.
Real are keen to recoup as much as money as possible for the 25-year-old, who they signed from Porto two years ago.
Chelsea signing Antonio Rudiger displays defensive prowess
Chelsea meanwhile, have been frustrated with their transfer business so far.
A move for Romelu Lukaku appears to be dead in the water after Manchester United agreed a fee.
So far, Manchester City shot-stopper Willy Caballero remains their only acquisition this summer.
