The 21-year-old centre-back could force his way into Antonio Conte's first-team plans this year, with Chelsea captain John Terry leaving when his contract exires next month.
And the Denmark international will get the chance to prove his worth to the Chelsea boss after sporting director Michael Emenalo told him he'll join in on this summer's pre-season preparations.
"I will join up with Chelsea on July 7th. I haven't talked to Conte yet," said Christensen, who has made three senior appearances for Chelsea since joining in 2014.

"I have talked to the sporting director and all those responsible for getting the players set up with a flat and what else belongs to them.
"The sports director says the plan is that I meet like all the others and go through the preseason."
Gladbach sporting director sporting director Max Eberl recently admitted the club would be open to re-signing Christensen this summer.
Andreas Christensen has already held talks with Chelsea sporting director Michael Emenalo
“We will lose him, because he has to return [to Chelsea],” Eberl told German outlet Kicker. “This is certain.
“But, if he does pre-season at Chelsea and then does not play the role that he hopes to, we have the chance to talk again as a club where he has gained two years’ good experience.
“It could also be that he plays. Or it may be the case that they want to sell him for €25m (£21m), then we would be out of the race.”
