Chelsea miss out on Belgium international as Monaco smash Everton’s transfer record
MONACO have signed Youri Tielemans in a £21.2million deal that smashes the Belgian transfer record previously set by Marouane Fellaini.
Youri Tielemans shows off his INCREDIBLE skills
Tielemans, 19, will move to the Ligue 1 side this summer after an impressive season with Anderlecht.
Chelsea wanted to sign the winger at the end of the season, with manager Antonio Conte a big fan.
Express Sport understands the club resolved to push for the exciting attacking prospect after monitoring his performances in the early part of the season.
But talks between Anderlecht and Monaco began last month, leaving the Blues in the cold.
Youri Tielemans's move to Monaco will trump Marouane Fellaini's Belgian record
And Belgian newspaper Le Soir now claim the move has been signed off.
According to the report, Tielemans will join Monaco to become the most expensive sale from a Belgian side in history.
The deal trumps Fellaini’s £15m switch from Standard Liege to Everton in 2008.
Fellaini, who was 20 at the time, became Everton’s most expensive acquisition when he joined the Goodison Park club under then-manager David Moyes.
Anderlecht are set to earn £21.2m for Tielemans
Tielemans still has three games to play at Anderlecht
Tielemans is still needed at Anderlecht for their remaining three fixtures of the Belgian top-flight campaign.
Anderlecht sit top of the Pro League, two points ahead of Club Brugge.
The two sides clash tomorrow (5pm) with Tielemans expected to start.
